We will host a quick info session via Zoom on November to share tips on how to run a successful campaign.
Any fundraiser whose page raises $100+ will receive a Fiver mug!
With the support of donors like you, we’ve seen over 1,700 young people go through our program, and for the first time in our organization’s history, we elected two Fiver alumni to our Board of Directors. Gabriela Berroa and Jonathan Jean-Pierre both graduated from our ten-year program in 2011, and have remained involved as donors and volunteers. Consider making a gift today to support journeys like Gabriela’s and Jonathan’s.
At our annual Fiver Benefit this past May, Jonathan shared his Fiver story and its impact on his life. His journey illuminates the importance of our programming and how all these experiences support our youth to create their own positive futures:
“I got to step foot on a college campus for the first time, went on a canoe trip, and participated in public speaking and ethics classes to provide me with the tools to lead in ambiguity in my career today.”
This year, 46 middle school youth went on their first canoe trip, and 76 youth had their first taste of college life by visiting Colgate University.
“I went camping for one week in the Adirondack Mountains, and got summer job training with business leaders to help us build essential professional skills and gain exposure to the workforce that helped me land my first job after college at JP Morgan.”
This summer, we reinstated our wilderness trips after taking a pause due to the pandemic, allowing for 65 youth to experience this unique opportunity for bonding, growth, and nature education with their peers. We also hosted 53 youth for our Summer Job Training program where they interacted with corporate volunteers from various sectors of industry, including finance, healthcare, media, technology, and nonprofit sectors.

“I went on a college road trip across the Northeast. I got to visit a Fiver alum at Lehigh University, where I ended up attending, served as a role model at camp by assuming leadership responsibilities, and took whole-self classes that helped me (have the confidence to) embrace all aspects of my identity."
This past summer, 75 youth went on college trips and 65 completed internships at camp. Our class of 2022 made us proud; 100% graduated from high school, and 88% have gone on to attend colleges like Syracuse, Haverford College, University of Pennsylvania and the American University of Paris, or joined the military.

“When Fiver approached me with the opportunity to join the board, it was a full-circle moment that culminated all my Fiver experiences to give back to an organization that means so much to me. I am thrilled to serve in this new capacity with Gabriela, where we can shape the future direction of this transformational organization to ensure the voices of our Fiver participants, alumni, communities, and staff are heard, valued, and centered in everything we do.”
In 2022, we hired a full-time Alumni Program Manager to support and engage Fiver graduates. We also launched an Alumni Coaching Program where older alumni, like Jonathan, mentor younger alumni to support their journey to college and career success.
